Is the facility accredited?

Licensed and accredited treatment centers conform to rigorous requirements that help ensure they offer quality care. The most well-known and highly regarded accreditation body is the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organization. Many reputable treatment centers will display their seal. Meanwhile, licensing is offered by states, which vary widely in their requirements.

Ensuring that a facility meets these basic standards will improve the likelihood that a treatment program is trustworthy and effective. It’s not always clear which treatment facilities are unethical, so tread carefully if you find several negative news stories or reviews about a facility.

Orange County Recovery is accredited and licensed by the Joint Commission. We are deeply committed to effectiveness, ethics, and integrity in treatment. Giving our clients a foundation for lasting recovery is at the core of our mission.

Is the staff properly trained?

Proper training and associated credentials help ensure that the treatment facility’s staff is well equipped to offer meaningful help to someone trying to recover. Nationally recognized standards for professional practice include LADC (licensed alcohol and drug counselor), LPC (licensed professional counselor), CAC (certified addictions counselor), or CCDP (certified co-occurring disorders counselor).

The team at OCR is comprised of experienced, compassionate staff with diverse backgrounds and robust credentials. We pride ourselves on our high standards and commitment to excellence. Our staff holds degrees and certifications from a variety of well-respected programs and works collaboratively to treat each client holistically. Meet our team, and let their experience speak for itself!

Is the length of stay and level of care right for your needs?

There are a variety of options for receiving treatment, and most facilities will help you determine what type of program is best suited to your needs during the initial evaluation and assessment period. In inpatient care, patients live full-time at the facility. In outpatient care, clients attend the facility during the day or in the evenings and go home at night—a great option for people who are unable to take long absences from work, family, or other commitments. There are also intensive outpatient programs, which offer a more encompassing treatment experience than a fully outpatient program, but don’t require clients to live full-time at the center.

Care can range anywhere from 28 days to upwards of a year. Research shows that the longer an individual remains in care, the better their chances of achieving long-term recovery. Programs with the best track records usually last longer than 30 days.

Orange County Recovery offers Partial Hospitalization, Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient programs, as well as gender-specific sober housing. Our clients remain with us as long as medically necessary, on average between three and six months. We provide thorough evaluations to match each client with the most appropriate treatment plan, making them more likely to succeed and thrive beyond their treatment experience.

What treatment methods are available?

A rigorous treatment facility will offer evidence-based methodologies that give clients the tools necessary for success. A comprehensive overhaul to basic coping mechanisms and life skills is often necessary to maintain sobriety, and many interventions address this need. Learning about the center’s philosophy, environment and methodology can give you insight into the rigor and quality of the facility.

At Orange County Recovery, we believe that hope and healing are available to anyone whose life has been devastated by addiction and behavioral health issues. Here we understand that healing is a lifelong process – we empower our clients to uncover the underlying issues that have been holding them back. We use evidence-based practices provided by an experienced, hand-selected professional team. Our comprehensive program offers CBT, DBT, FIT, EMDR, Trauma-informed care, and a meaningful introduction to the 12 Steps.

Does the facility use the 12 steps? Do they help clients develop life skills and coping mechanisms?

Addressing the underlying drivers of addiction is usually necessary for contented, long-term sobriety. A high-quality treatment center will play a central role in addressing these root causes and teaching clients valuable new life skills, while introducing them to support groups that can help after the treatment experience.

Orange County Recovery specializes in the treatment of issues that drive addictive behaviors. We give clients a firm foundation in the 12 steps to support them beyond treatment. Our licensed clinicians work closely with our clients; meeting them wherever they are and helping them to achieve their treatment goals.

Is the staff qualified to treat trauma and co-occurring disorders? There is a consensus among experts and clinicians that mental health issues or trauma often accompany addiction. Finding a facility that has the skillset to address these issues will often be vital for successful treatment.

At OCR we believe that treating past trauma and mental health issues alongside substance abuse treatment a necessary component to a comprehensive treatment program. Our seasoned team has a depth of experience and rigorous credentials. We welcome all who are ready to accept help.

What type of support is available for families?

Evidence has shown that support from family and community plays an important role in ensuring that recovery lasts beyond a treatment program. Cultivating a healthy support network and healing relationships can give people the foundation they need to resume their lives after completing a rehab program.

At Orange County Recovery, we encourage family involvement and seek to create a robust support system for families and patients alike. We offer families extended supportive services that foster community while enhancing their understanding of addiction and its impact. At OCR, we create opportunities for families to learn valuable skills and engage in the treatment process—because clients with healthy support systems have a higher likelihood of sustained, happy sobriety.

What are the payment options?

Many insurance policies cover some or all of a treatment program. Alternatively, many treatment centers offer a range of financing options and payment plans. Exercise caution, however—just because a treatment program is expensive doesn’t mean it offers high-caliber care; luxury doesn’t necessarily equal quality. Many less-ethical facilities are driven by the bottom line, while helping people recover is a secondary priority.

At OCR, most private insurance policies are accepted. We encourage prospective patients to get in touch for more specific information and to clarify what specific insurance plans will cover. Helping people recover is our central priority and our bottom line.

Does the program offer ongoing support after completing treatment?

For many people, undergoing treatment alone is generally insufficient to maintain a lasting, contented recovery. An aftercare plan that includes participation in a 12-step program (such as Alcoholics Anonymous) or other support group is incredibly helpful. A committed treatment facility will assist a client as they take their next steps.

At OCR, our team helps clients develop an aftercare plan before completion of the program. We have an alumni program to help clients stay connected and accountable, and offer continued post-treatment support as needed.
